Mid-Break Update

Well, it's the middle of break one (FYI: this means I'm starting the third week of my break).  I got a couple of things to talk about.

1.  The National Museum - This museum is not the best museum I've ever been in.  It did have some good information (like about how white people came to Africa, the daily life of a batswana, etc.).  However I found the museum was a little disorganized.  The first part of the museum went like this:
The African Wild Dog -> How Whites Came to Africa ->  The Capetown to Cairo Railroad ->  The Otse Cliff Vultures, etc.  Like I said it was very informational.  The museum also had an art gallery which should open tomorrow.  And it had a huge exhibit on the japan earthquake/tsunami disaster (including pictures, letters sent to the children of Japan, etc.)

2.  The Botanical Gardens - These gardens were once located a the National Museum.  When the museum was renovated in 2004 the Herberborium (a place with records and samples of every plant in Botswana) was relocated.  In 2005, the National Museum got funding from a gardening club in the US.  They used this funding to start the National Botanical Gardens.  However, now the gardens get very little money.  Most of the plants are overgrown and the trails destroyed.  You could tell not very people had been there when there are weeds everywhere in the car park.  With a little more funding these gardens could be a great place to visit.

In two weeks:  The Rhino Sanctuary*
The Update on the Fire at Westwood

I'll talk soon!
